About RoastRanker

Independent reviews. Honest rankings. No sponsorships.

RoastRanker exists because we got tired of coffee gear "reviews" that read like press releases. Too many sites rank products they've never touched, recommend gear based on affiliate commissions rather than quality, and bury their actual opinion under hedged, SEO-stuffed paragraphs that say nothing.

We take a different approach. Every product we review gets tested in our home brewing lab — real kitchens, real water, real beans. We measure extraction rates, time our brew cycles, and compare results blind when it matters. Then we write up what we actually think, clearly and without hedging.

How We Test

Our review process follows a consistent methodology across every category:

  • Side-by-side testing — we compare similar products against each other, not in isolation
  • Multiple beans — we test each brewer with at least three different roast levels to understand its range
  • Long-term use — we use each product for a minimum of two weeks before publishing our review
  • Real measurements — water temperature, brew time, extraction yield, and total dissolved solids where relevant

How We Make Money

RoastRanker earns revenue through affiliate links. When you click a product link and make a purchase, we may earn a small commission at no extra cost to you. This is how we fund our testing and keep the site running.

Here's what we don't do: we never accept payment for reviews, we never let brands approve or edit our content, and we never adjust a rating because of an affiliate relationship. If a product is bad, we say so — even if we could earn a commission by recommending it.

Our Team

RoastRanker is run by a small team of coffee enthusiasts who spend too much money on beans and too much time debating grind sizes. We come from backgrounds in food writing, product testing, and specialty coffee — and we built this site because we wanted the resource we wished existed when we were starting out.
